eBook nuiunde #232; The Editors Companion MOBI #233; The Editors PDFEPUB ² editors book, companion mobile, The Editors free, The Editors Companion KindleI made this purchase with the intent of editing my debut novel While I appreciate Mr Dunham's efforts I was rather disappointed with how little I actually learned As a non lit academic whose 1st language isn't English I was a bit frustrated with incessant remarks stating the obvious Redundancy for example isn't something I feel I need to be told to avoidFurther given that the this book concerns editing and thus facilitating communication I found it rather fragmented and difficult to follow I think it is partly due to the numerous citations of other author names and their lengthy publication titles I recognize this as mandatory of course However prior to midpoint in the book there were so many references made to another handbook that I really questioned the merit to having published this one in its steadI am sad to say it was quite a bit of a chore to complete and had it not been for the respect I hold for the author's ef

eBook nuiunde #232; The Editors Companion MOBI #233; The Editors PDFEPUB ² editors book, companion mobile, The Editors free, The Editors Companion KindleRead for professional development purposes Seemed a bit dated and the advice was pretty obvious May be useful to writers wanting editing knowledge or other editing novices I have professional experience in the area and a journalism degree and I didn't gain much new knowledge from it Strangely the author seemed to have a distaste for writers

eBook nuiunde #232; The Editors Companion MOBI #233; The Editors PDFEPUB ² editors book, companion mobile, The Editors free, The Editors Companion KindleSome excellent practical information on how to edit Some overly grammar advice such as avoiding 'they' as gender neutral totally disagree which the author often didn't follow anyway such as explaining whowhom and then not using whom when required It's a good introduction to editing but there are better books on this subject such as Pinker's Sense of Style

eBook nuiunde #232; The Editors Companion MOBI #233; The Editors PDFEPUB ² editors book, companion mobile, The Editors free, The Editors Companion KindleWhen it's a book on editing I can't say you can expect anything groundbreaking but this book does contain a lot of helpful tips and reminders Better yet they're written by example to show what a mistake would look like in the course of coming across it I'm used to seeing sections areas where the dos and don'ts are broken down It packs a different punch when you see the concerns in sentence and paragraph form reading along as a reader would Sometimes if you're just letting it go you find out you are missing some of the concerns that Mr Dunham is talking about and it makes you go back and catch them

eBook nuiunde #232; The Editors Companion MOBI #233; The Editors PDFEPUB ² editors book, companion mobile, The Editors free, The Editors Companion KindleThere is a very real irony when a book about editing needs an editor The run on sentences are plentiful and obvious That said they work He broke the rules but did so in a way that made sense I judge run on sentences by a personal rule can I read them out loud without being awkward or dying of a severe asthma attack I personally was looking for specific information What I got was an enjoyable read about editing as a profession It was a fairly broad ove
