I kept thinking 'Is this book about the self deception of a man who admires primitivism simply for his own sexual gratification and who feels better about himself when he treats women like shit?' Well I do wonder if this is what Carpentier intended I mean if this is a deeply ironic book with a completely unreliable narrator then I might upgrade it to two stars But unfortunately I think that the author actually wanted the reader to take this garbage seriously so I'm sticking with one starIn short this book has no redeeming features A tedious waste of time reading it I can tick the box th
